I.MODI

Organisation

I.MODI exploits Earth Observation data to develop customized services for monitoring the stability of buildings in large urban areas and controlling critical civil infrastructures (e.g. roads and dams) providing user-friendly reports.

I.MODI offers an advanced system to integrate the displacements observed by satellite technologies (DInSAR) with in situ measurements delivering technical and modeling reports.

Current SAR satellite missions collect data with high frequency, even every 15 days, while past missions allow us to undertake back-analysis using archive data from 1992.

I.MODI services foresee a relevant socio-economical impact towards optimized maintenance actions and improved population safeguarding.

The project offers to the users different type of services:

  • Wide Area Analysis: overview of the magnitude and distribution of the subsidence process overlapped to surface and subsoil interferences
  • Buildings classification: a displacement indicator, derived from the magnitude
  • Preliminary analysis: analysis of displacements registered from satellite during the years. Evaluation of any external event that may have caused the displacement. On-site surveys not required.
  • Preliminary damage analysis: data obtained with satellite technology is used in simplified structural models to verify the degree of damage suffered by structures. On-site surveys are required.
  • Quantitative analysis: data obtained with satellite technology is used in advanced structural models to quantify damage and analyze its evolution over time, past present and future. On-site surveys are required.

Potential end users

Survey Lab’s potential customers are in the following areas: local governments at large (municipalities, regional and provincial governments, etc.); property companies and owners of real estate assets; owners or managers of infrastructures such as roads, dams, bridges and critical infrastructures; companies specialized in managing all the above mentioned infrastructures; consulting companies, such as engineering companies, specialized in infrastructural monitoring and maintenance.
